This was shot at Ludlow castle, i thought it was my camera but there is a definite difference in the colour of the stones inside the castle wall as opposed to inside the room of the castle.

Hi Dennis, interesting photo - I would like to see the vertical lines straightened. Never been to Ludlow - looks like a spot to visit.

Through the arched window
Hi Glenys
Thanks for the comments.
Do you know what? i tried straightening the vertical lines and then the window ledge was very wonky and the arch looked wrong.
If you look on the full sized version with both sides of the window showing it does seem to straighten up. Perhaps those olde worlde builders didnt have any spirit levels.
Must be one of those optical illusions or too much Guinness!

hi dennis it is perfectly straight! you used the window as your guide? the problem is old buildings just were not made using spirit levels (tuts) how rude of them haha
i like it .. the only niggle i would have is the white sky, buts its not a huge thing!

Through the arched window
Thanks mate
it was my very very first day with my new camera and i hadnt a clue! I do know the sky was very dull and overcast. no sun or anything. I just went round snapping like a loony at everything that moved or didnt move.
This was my first photographic assignment you could say....

now exif info so i cant be sure but it looks like you were quite colse to the window and shot on a wide setting hence the verticals being as they are. way round that is to move back as far as you can then zoom in.
but in saying that, the verticals dont bother me...i would say the castle thro the window is a bit too saturated/vibrant colours compared to the window itself but that is me being Really picky, because as it stands, i really rather like it just so!!
wonderful shot!! lets have some more!!
ps. just had shifty look at your flickr stuff. cool and the gang matey!

Through the arched window
Thanks Andy
the stone really was a weird colour but i did attempt to make it a bit more contrasty and may have overdone it as you say. Will lay off the layers and stuff in future, trouble with new boys with toys, play with them too much....
Thanks for the comment, first day with new camera and just thought it looked a good picture looking through the window, and yes i was close so thanks for the tip re standing back and zooming.
Oh no all my dodgy pix of me and the family are on Flickr as well!!!! (anything goes on there so if my discs, harddrive, laptop all fail i have a copy somewhere!!
