from what i have read the Nikon lens is a better lens .... if you end up going for the sigma lens then try the APO version if money will stretch ... as they have two versions!
not sure if mathew at One of the UK's Best Stocked Dealers, Part Exchange Welcome, Collection Service Available has any second hand 300mm at the moment, may be worth a look
