Hiya! Yep, in the end last Saturday I got my first DSLR! In the end I went with the D40 - I tried out a few of both Canon and Nikon in the shop (the London Camera Exchange - they were very helpful in there, thank you Andy for recommending them!) and as a beginner, I found it good to use and handle. 6.1 megapixels is more than enough for me as a beginner, and also the price was a factor too.

Also, on buying the Nikon, they are doing a Spring deal at the minute - cuz I bought it with the 18-55m lens kit, I sent off and they'll (hopefully!) give me a £30 cashback because of this deal. They are doing it on a few different lenses - the bigger the lens, the more the cashback. Should this info go somewhere else in the site, because I didn't know about it until I actually went to buy the camera.
