Sometimes it can be confusing about the rights to taking photographs inside churches and Cathedrals. Some of these buildings are covered by their own copyrights and often object to photographs being taken. However this is often covered with advanced warning upon entry with 'no camera' signs. When posssible to take the photographs, and a service is going on, always avoid flash. (This tends to annoy the clergy) But generally they should expect such a beautiful building to be photographed and would be used to people standing central to the aisle pointing their cameras forward.
