I do but I work stupid hours a day and whilst I love every moment - I don't earn a huge amount at the end of the day. the only way to make money in photography is to be able to diversify, know how to market and keep moving with the times, studios are dropping like flies because they cannot compete with the humble digital compact camera. Like it or not people think they can take pro quality images of their kids, weddings etc because they like what they see on the back of the camera....and if they like it then they have achieved what we as pro's try to achieve for them.
The only way forward is to aim at the higher end of the market at people who appreciate the differences and who can afford more expensive images. At the same time keeping in mind that peoples use of images has changed - they no longer print so many in favour of media storage/digital frames/slideshows etc - the days of the portrait photographer as they are now may be numbered unless they accept that they have to supply digital images - also a certain high end studio chain have damaged the market by making 'hard sell' the norm, putting a lot of people off and stopping the good up front offers - hats off to EOSnrs for maintaining the figures and reaching those targets but for most of us, especially the smaller independant guys, it is getting harder and harder.
sorry for that rant...
