Default Unusual Flower

Photographers Comments
This plant grows in the Thompson Arboretum, Superior, Arizona.
I was told there are only three plants of this kind here in North America,(a native of Chile) this is one, and the strange thing is, it only blooms every 5 years or so.
I have never seen a flower of this color before.
Can anybody help to identify this plant. (looks like it is from the Agave Family
