During the season of 1994, I was commissioned by a private race team to follow them and the superbike league. I was given an open acces to all areas pass by the Donnington Park HQ. This allowed me into all access areas and all race tracks throughout that season, whether it was superbikes or tourers or formular 1. I loved it!!
I also found that the best selling photographs were the ones of the crashes. I would often come across the bikers, after a spill who would ask "did you get that"? If the image was a good one, it would be them and there team to be the first to place orders. Weird I know, I would have thought it would have been the images of the chequered flag on the finish line they wanted, but no. They seemed to always want the ones of the spectacular crashes.
Tip: next time you attend these races, find the most dangerous areas on the track and wait. You should be guarenteed to photograph spills to sell onto the riders/drivers and the team.
