BW film is best these days for really capturing the emotion and presence of children playing (assuming Charlie is not a dog or cat or rabbit!!)
I can recommend Kodak BW400CN..very nice and not too grainy. colour film i would go with Fuji, prob 400 again as you can shoot without flash making grab shots easier.. Slide film you have to be really spot on with exposure..no room for under or over exposures..
Any one hour lab worth its salt can scan your negs onto CD and a set of prints for you..
Having done 7 years in a Prolab and early training on x2 minilabs had plenty of experience of wet labs and printing
