Ok, so although i'm no where near being able to sell my shots, thought as i got sent this link by a friend (her nephew works for the company), it may be of use to some of you professionals

Straight from the horses mouth so to speak:

Brief answers to your questions:
Yes, anyone can submit to us.
In order to start submitting contributors need to register online then send us 4 test images.
Our quality control department check only on a technical basis and not on the content of the image.
Yes, it is FREE to submit to us and contributors get 65% from the sale of each image.
Contributors retain the copyright of their images and therefore if they want to cancel their contract we will keep the images for 180 days (in case an image buyer has a long lead time for reporting usage) and then they will be removed from our database.

Our quality control policy sometimes gets slated by photographers saying we have a lot of rubbish online.
Our ethos is; if a photographer thinks there is a market for their images and there is a buyer willing to throw money at it.. if we can guarantee the image is technically perfect then why not?
An example is this chap, who after realising his boiler was misbehaving sent an E-mail attachment to his gas company. Forgetting it was on his memory card he sent us a batch of images including the broken boiler.
If you search for this Alamy reference on our website: A39NHA
You will notice it's not a particularly good image. You certainly wouldn't see it in a gallery or want it framed in your living room.
But someone out there wanted it for a worldwide advertising campaign and was willing to pay £1,500 for it.
(This is obviously an exception.... I would not advise to send in hundreds of pictures of broken boilers!!)

So if your friend can get their images to our technical standards: Alamy stock photography - Prepare images
Then I can see no reason why they shouldn't submit to us.
